One of the big things holding back the Nashville Predators economically has been the lack of corporate sponsorship. While flipping through the Center Ice channels last night I caught the interview/plug with the guy from the Sommet Group and Pete Weber on FSN South during the first intermission between them and the Red Wings.See the NashVegas website for a taste of their new, improved marketability, including the Evil One himself, Floppa.
The amount of coverage this was given during the game was kinda sad, actually, but it is very good news for the Predleys and the NHL. With the reports that the team had alienated much of the local business community in its early days, this announcement, no matter how minor, is an important first step in quelling the complaints about Hockey south the Mason-Dixon line. So, for better or worse, the Predators playoff run, whatever the length may be, will be brought to you by those who specialize in outsourced labor.
Now, if we can only get them to sponsor the NHL to find some new, more consistent referees, we'd be onto something.
Ta,

It would be nice if you wanted pen the Sommet Group a new motto that you would actually research what you are talking about.
The Sommet Group does not specialize in "outsourced labor [in an out of country location for a cheap price" as you implied . In fact, they aren't even a "staffing firm". I work there... every day...
By far the most amazing company I've ever worked for. You hear people saying daily that have worked there for a year and that they "still often wonder if this job isn't too good to be true".
What the Sommet Group actually does is the stuff that if you were a small or medium sized business you wouldn't want to, or have the expertise to do. We have people that ALL WORK in the Franklin, TN location, that will (on location at your business, or ours) develop, plan and implement IT infrastructure, IT-Software, Payrole, HR and Legal services to Small to Medium sized businesses.
Get it right. This company has stepped up in a way in which no corporate sponsor has done for the Predators yet. This is great for the NHL as a whole...
Why be a "hater"?

Ameyers,
I did not imply anything more in that post that what I read from the front page of your website. I'm glad you love who you work for and thanks for passing that along.
Now, to the actual post (which you apparently failed to read) I noted that the Preds finally were able to convince someone locally to sponsor the team... this is an unqualified 'Good Thing(tm).' For the NHL, for the Preds, for everyone. That is not, in any way, shape or form... hating.
What part of "...this is very good news for the Preds and the NHL" did you seem to not understand?
The truth is that the coverage on this was a little over-the-top during the game with fan interviews and the like.. but, if the NHL is going to have a successful franchise in Nashville, the Preds will have to become as bigger part of the community than they are.
This is an important first step, but only a first step. It sounds like the Sommet Group is a quality group of people, and I have no reason to believe otherwise so having them as a sponsor can't be bad for the team or the league.
So, if your company doesn't outsource labor, but provides services that others don't want to handle, would you mind taking over for the league's Disciplinary Office?
