After two weeks of hard deliberating and consultation with family and friends, superstar Mats Sundin decided to have blueberry pancakes for breakfast. This comes as a shock to media and ex-teammates, who figured Sundin for a apple and cinnamon kinda guy. Raspberry remains heartbroken by the news (she should have seen it coming).
Yes, Sundin has yet to make a decision as to whether he'll play in the NHL next season, and has a few teams (Canucks, Leafs, Canadiens) waiting with bated breath as he considers their offers. O NOES!!!
There are far too many people, it seems, that think that Sundin, like every other free agent piece of meat, should have signed a contract at midnight on July 1st. OMGZ, How could Sundin possibly not pounce on the first big contract like a horny dog?
A few examples for your viewing pleasure ...
This doesn't count the 100's of forum posts I've read chastising Sundin for his careful consideration.
I ask you a simple question: If you were in Mats Sundin's position in your real walk of life (lawyer, concrete pourer, Subway Sandwich Artist, etc), wouldn't you take the time to make the best decision for your happiness and your family?
Why is it that people in the hockey world think they deserve a quick decision from any particular player? Why should Sundin not have the luxury of time to do whatever the damn well he pleases?
Fact: Mats Sundin does not owe you, me, or the media anything. Sundin is a free agent commodity who can choose to sell his services to whomever he chooses at whatever time he sees fit. If you don't like that, suck a nut.
Fact: If a team is not willing to wait for Sundin, then that shuts a door for Mats. The guy obviously knows this, and is willing to take that risk.
Fact: The longer Mats waits, the longer he has to see which team fits in his ideal vision of where to play. Does Mats want to play for a real contender, or just milk the most money from the cow? Desperate GM's do desperate things.
Fact: Sundin doesn't need the NHL, nor does he need the money. Sundin could very well retire to a comfortable life of fishing and meatball eating with no regrets.
As a Canucks fan, I really do want Sundin to sign with my hometown club, and I wish he would do it soon. That said, I will not chastise Sundin for taking his sweet time, nor should other Canucks fans, and I will not criticize his decision, should he sign here or elsewhere.

So, let me get this straight. You don't like the "sex sells" of AOL Fanhouse, but you don't mind the "sensational headlines that aren't true" way of bringing readers around?

Given that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I'd say that the headline is true. It's a pretty big decision! :)

Like the rest of the Vancouver media, you're doing your part to get Sundin to realize that Vancouver is a wonderful place to make 20 million dollars over 164 games (plus playoffs?). Good for you.
You know, this wouldn't be such a big deal if you guys and the rest of the media didn't make a big deal about it.....

Although Sundin decided on blueberry pancakes, we'll have to wait another few weeks before he decides on which type of maple syrup.

First off I want to start off by saying this article goes off in too many directions, like get to the point buddy, and make your point clear.
And second, Mats Sundin does owe the fans a decision, all of those devoted fans who would like to know where their favourite player will be going, and when setting a deadline Mats Sundin should have stuck to it, this should have been pointed out in this article, but instead you were bias in one direction, and that direction was that Mats Sundine can take how ever long he wants, and he can keep his fans on the fence.
Not a very good article

As a Swede l can tell you that we take our breakfast very seriously. I would love to se Sundin play for 2 more years just so we (Sweden) can se him in the olympics one more time. Since all of the "Superswedes" (Sundin, Lidström, Forsberg, Näslund and Alfredsson) are geting old l hope they all sign with the NHL for 2 more years! But there is one thing l wish to se more than that. That's to se Mats lift the Cup because he deservs it! He has won 3 world championships for Sweden and scoring the game winner in two of them and the Olympics in 2006 after a superb start to the final period of the final, I don't think there is anyone in the NHL who deservs to win the cup more then him. Saw him playing a celeb golf match a week ago and he looks fit, He will tells the hockey world in the end of aug were he will play, there is no question about it. I just hope he signs for a team that can win (Montreal, Detroit, Dallas our my outsider Philly
