Fans Give Palin a Philly Welcome

Here's a piece of video that's going to be over analyzed in the sports blogosphere in the next 24-48 hours -- Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's appearance at a ceremonial puck drop before the Philadelphia Flyers season opener with the New York Rangers. Was she booed? I'll let you decide:

Here's Puck Daddy:
Behind the music, you'll have heard a mix of cheers and boos; and as predicted, the lower bowl near the glass was in a standing ovation. (Except for whoever was holding up that Obama/Biden sign. Viral!) In the end, the boos won out because this is, after all, Philadelphia. But it wasn't the vicious hellfire that some predicted. No one threw a beer at her. Probably because they didn't want to hit her daughter. Or waste the beer.
Or get manhandled by a secret service detail. It was hard not to notice that Alaska native, Rangers center Scott Gomez, got a little peck on the cheek from the Governor.

As you might have expected, The 700 Level is all over this, with multiple fan views from within the Wachovia Center, some positive, some negative. For a political angle, check out what Jake Tapper of ABC News had to say.

My only question at this point is whether or not Palin was booed with enough vigor to get Bodog to pay off? Stay tuned.
