Bad News, Fight Fans: Blue Jackets' Derek Dorsett Injured, on Injured Reserve

Derek Dorsett has developed into a pretty solid fighter for the Columbus Blue Jackets this season. The youngster has already racked up seven fighting majors, and his matchup with Daniel Carcillo of the Phoenix Coyotes is a definite candidate for Fight of the Year (not a real award).

Those who enjoy the occasional hockey fight were dealt some bad news Friday, as it was learned that Dorsett's bout with Carcillo will be his last for a while.
Right winger Derek Dorsett is having surgery on Friday morning to fix a fractured ring finger on his right hand. He said he felt it break during his fight with Phoenix's Daniel Carcillo -- probably on an upper cut -- but kept fighting. Dorsett is supposed to miss three to five weeks.
This is terrible, awful news. Dorsett has put up some entertaining fights this year. However, all is not lost.

After all, Blue Jacket Jared Boll was in 27 fights last year, has already had seven so far this year, and took on Detroit's Andreas Lilja in Friday's game.

I think we're going to be okay here.
