Newsmakers in the NHL: San Jose Knocks Off Boston

Sharks 5, Bruins 2: In what was the premier matchup of the night, San Jose scored four unanswered goals in the third period on its way to a 5-2 win over the Bruins.

After Milan Michalek gave the Sharks their first lead of the night midway through the third period, Joe Thornton helped burn his former team when he chipped in his 13th goal of the season. Ryane Clowe recorded three assists in the win, while Evgeni Nabokov made 28 saves.

Kings 4, Islanders 3: Jack Johnson scored in a shootout to help lead the Kings to a 4-3 win over the Islanders. For the Kings, it's their seventh win in their past eight games.

Blue Jackets 3, Avalanche 0: Dan LaCosta made 31 saves to pick up his first career shutout in Columbus' 3-0 win over Colorado. With the game scoreless after two periods, the Blue Jackets finally broke through with goals from Andrew Murray, Jason Williams and Fredrik Modin.

Thrashers 3, Lightning 1: Kari Lehtonen was the difference for Atlanta on Tuesday night, stopping 40 shots in the Thrashers 3-1 win over Tampa Bay.

Panthers 5, Maple Leafs 4: Now this is how you get people into the stands (as opposed to bribery). Trailing 4-1 midway through the third period, Florida rallied with three consecutive goals to send the game to overtime, where Richard Zednik scored the game-winner at the 1:08 mark of the period. A day after being called out (sort of) by his general manager, Nik Antropov picked up his 17th goal of the season for Toronto.

Red Wings 5, Predators 3: Detroit registered 51 shots on goal in its 5-3 win over Nashville on Tuesday, while Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk each finished with two goals and an assist.

Canucks 6, Blues 4: Mats Sundin scored a pair of goals for the Canucks as they rallied for four goals in the third period to knock off St. Louis, 6-4. Andy McDonald returned to the lineup and picked up a goal and an assist just one day after signing a four-year contract extension to remain with the Blues.
