Hurricanes 5, Avalanche 2: Led by Matt Cullen's hat trick, Carolina picked up a dominating 5-2 win over the Avalanche on Sunday to move within one point of the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes held a commanding 39-19 edge in the shots department, as the Avalanche spent nearly a third of the game down a man. Cam Ward stopped 17-of-19 shots in net, while Joni Pitkanen, Ray Whitney and Chad LaRose each finished with two points in the win.
Maple Leafs 3, Rangers 2: Oh those Rangers. The slump continues in New York, as the Rangers fell for the 10th time in their past 12 games, dropping a 3-2 decision to Toronto. Michal Rozsival scored with 40 seconds to play in regulation, sending the game to overtime where Niklas Hagman netted the game-winner for Toronto.

Daily Rebounds
-- A little late on this, but Los Angeles defenseman Denis Gauthier has been suspended again, this time two games for taking out San Jose's Patrick Marleau. Six games for a sex joke.
-- On Sunday, Kevin Schultz told us to watch out for the Florida Panthers, and here's an article from David J. Neal of the Miami Herald talking about how fans are starting to get behind this team. Probably because of the possibility of free tickets in 2009!
Monday's key games
-- Actually, it's Monday's only game as Dallas hosts San Jose. The Stars hope Marty Turco can continue his second half resurgence as they battle for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
