Mathieu Schneider Could Play Against Boston Thursday Night

Earlier this week, word surfaced that the Montreal Canadiens were going to be without the services of veteran defenseman Mathieu Schneider due to a shoulder injury that might require surgery. As it turns out, we may have just been victim to playoff injury reporting smoke screens, as the 39-year-old defenseman participated in Thursday's morning skate.

The Canadiens can clinch a playoff berth with a win over their longtime rivals, the Boston Bruins, and head coach Bob Gainey sounded somewhat optimistic regarding Schneider's condition.

According to the Boston Bruins Blog at the Boston Globe, Gainey said there is a "good possibility" that Schneider will be in the lineup when the puck drops at 7:00 PM ET. That's certainly good news for the Canadiens, as Schneider has been a welcome addition to the lineup, especially with the man advantage.

Montreal has lost two in a row, including a come-from-ahead loss to the Senators on Monday, and a 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday. With two games remaining -- Thursday in Boston, and Saturday at home against Pittsburgh -- the Canadiens need, as Four Habs Fans points out, just one stupid little ... uh, point to make the postseason. And they've even brought out the big guns, so to speak, to help them get it.
