The Heatley Rumor Mill Continues To Spin

The Edmonton Oilers have finally given up on the idea that disgruntled Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley will waive his no-trade clause to play for their team, and with that comes the rumor of a potential deal involving the Senators, San Jose Sharks and Montreal Candiens.

Joe Thornton feeding passes to Dany Heatley? Yes, please.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun started the rumor mill this weekend, and quotes Senators general manager Bryan Murray as saying, via e-mail, that he has "an option" to finally move Heatley. Assuming this actually happens, the question then becomes: will Heatley accept the trade this time around?

Nikolai Zherdev Gets $3.9 Million In Arbitration

Newsday's Steve Zipay reported on Sunday night that Rangers forward Nikolai Zherdev was awarded just under $4 million ($3.9 million, to be exact) in his arbitration hearing; slightly more than the Rangers offered him, slightly less than what Zherdev asked for. The Rangers must now decide if they want pay him, dump him, or trade him. Zipay feels a trade could be in order to any number of Western Conference teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, where former Rangers coach, Tom Renney, is currently an assistant. Oilers blog Lowetide takes it upon itself to offer up Dustin Penner for Zherdev.
