Report: Dany Heatley Traded to Sharks

UPDATE: TSN denies the trade reports.

It happened more than two months after most observers thought it would, but Dany Heatley finally got his wish. Evidently, the threat of having him at Ottawa Senators training camp was too much for the team to deal with.

Mere hours after FanHouse's Susan Slusser reported the increase of rumblings surrounding the San Jose Sharks and Heatley, ESPN now reports that Heatley has indeed been dealt to the Sharks as part of a three-team deal.

John Buccigross reports that the agreement has been reached, and the Senators will get a pair of young players in return.

Instead of San Jose sending prospects to Ottawa, the Sharks were able to work the Kings into this three-way dance. They are reportedly sending forwards Alexander Frolov and Jarrett Stoll to Ottawa, and the Sharks will ship former captain Patrick Marleau to Los Angeles.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson and Senators GM Bryan Murray both shot down the report when contacted by ESPN.com.

"It's simply not true," Murray told ESPN.com Thursday night. "I've had conversations with teams today but still I'm not close to a deal [involving Heatley]."

If the report is true, the Senators are able to get the young players they've coveted in return for Heatley, and the Kings add another veteran to their very young roster.

Heatley had been rumored for some time to be seeking a relocation to California, and he would become the centerpiece of a huge preseason shakeup in San Jose.
