There are many different ways to celebrate the 4th of July holiday: You can cross state lines and purchase hundreds of dollars worth of illegal fireworks. You can stuff your face with food, whether it be for fun or
in the name of "competition." You can spend quality time with family and friends. You can combine all of the above and stuff your face with food, in the presence of family and friends, while you dodge the local police and set off hundreds of dollars worth of illegal fireworks.
You can also spend a few minutes and watch a bunch of random videos that feature American-born hockey players.
Enjoy.

The NHL's Hall of Fame class of 2009 features a reunion of the Detroit Red Wings' 2001-02 Stanley Cup Championship team, and the completion of the best father-son duo in the history of the league. On Tuesday afternoon,
Steve Yzerman,
Brett Hull,
Luc Robitaille and
Brian Leetch were announced as the newest members of hockey's most exclusive club.
New Jersey Devils general manager
Lou Lamoriello was also elected as a builder.
Not really any surprises here, as they make up one of the best quintets to ever enter Toronto.

On Tuesday, the NHL Hall of Fame will announce its class of 2009 and it's pretty much assumed -- and for good reason -- that Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull and Brian Leetch will be getting their calls for enshrinement in Toronto. Easy choices, all of them.
As Brian Costello of
The Hockey News points out, the fourth spot is going to create plenty of debate with such players as Luc Robitaille, Alexander Mogilny, Dave Andreychuk, and Doug Gilmour, among others, also eligible. And let's not forget about The Russian Rocket,
Pavel Bure.

The real NHL awards will be handed out Thursday night in Las Vegas, so FanHouse decided to hand out its own special awards for the 2008-09 season. While there are still many folks firmly planted on both the pro and con sides of the shootout debate, I think one thing that everyone can agree on is that the skill competition does produce some amazing highlight reel goals. Today, I have the pleasure of unveiling the FanHouse nominees for the best shootout goal of the 2008-09 season.

I don't think there's any question that hockey players are the most approachable, fan-friendly athletes in sports. I still remember being in high school and hanging around Mellon Arena after games and getting a chance to meet (and score autographs!) from guys like Alexei Kovalev, Johan Hedberg and Andrew Ference (hey, these were the lean years), not to mention the one night we had the opportunity to ask Owen Nolan why he backed down from Kryzsztof Oliwa in a fight.
The Penguins are still reveling in their win, while they spent Saturday night on the town with their new friend, Stanley.

The handshake line that follows every NHL playoff series is a great tradition. The teams battle it out for four, five, six, or seven games. When it's all over, the two teams line up at center ice, take the gloves off their right hands, and shake hands with each other.
This wonderful ritual continued Friday night after
Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Pittsburgh won, and the two teams took part in the handshake line as usual. At least one Red Wing, however, is alleging that a prominent Pittsburgh player
snubbed his team's captain in the line.

Among some hockey fans, Pittsburgh captain
Sidney Crosby has developed quite the reputation. While
Penguin fans swear by his consistent play and leadership ability, other fans look at him as a complainer, whiner, and even someone who embellishes to try to get the attention of officials.
Think what you want of him, but it's hard to argue that he got pretty banged up Friday night during Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Unfortunately, Detroit fans were not on their best behavior in response to his injury.

So I'm watching the morning
Sportscenter, and after going through the highlights of Friday's Game 7, I hear Neil Everett drop the following line: "
I just Googled Max Talbot to find out more about him and the first thing I find is a bunch of pictures of him shirtless, kissing girls, so he must be the dude."Now you know, Neil. Now you know. With his performance in Pittsburgh's 2-1 win on Friday night, Talbot wrote his chapter in
Penguins history by scoring both goals in the deciding game of the Stanley Cup final. While this puts him on the
NHL map, he's has been a superstar in Pittsburgh for the past two seasons, not only for his gritty, hard-working style of play, but for his
flawless performances as a spokesperson (sort of) for A & L Motors in Pittsburgh.
